HOW-COVID-19-HAS-CHANGED-THE-FITNESS-INDUSTRY

Before the start of isolation and home quarantine, at Train Smart Fitness and Health, we were conducting Personal Training through our Online and Virtual Training Services. With the world slowly opening back up and everyone getting comfortable around each other, we are returning to offering In-Home Personal Training again, following all the safety precautions put forth by the Government.

We have mentioned the precautions that we take on our COVID-19 update page, linked here.

However, Virtual and Online Training has proven to be popular among our clients. Over the next six months, we are offering in-home training for clients in our service areas who would like to avail of the features. Furthermore, to continue being accessible to as many people as possible, our online and virtual training services are still available, and we continue to improve on them.

COVID-19 made in-home training inaccessible for some time, even as the world slowly opens back up and we are still getting used to the new normal. There are many who, within good reason, are still hesitant about returning to in-home training, usually having pre-existing conditions or elderly family members for who it would be too high a risk.

We are communicating much more with our clients now. We check in to see how they're coping with the situation, encourage, provide tips, sharing even more of our knowledge around preventative health measures and overall, make sure they are doing alright.

I have been following the social isolation protocols by working from home and conducting face to face training sessions virtually and for my independent clients by providing them with online coaching. Over the summer, I started working with a few clients in-person again through our sessions outdoors at a park when possible, and when we go to their houses, we follow the basic safety guidelines.

The most significant challenge that comes with training remotely is that it's not as easy to see a client's exercise form from a variety of angles. To get around this challenge, the client has to adjust either their position or camera, so we get different viewpoints. For our online clients, the challenge is getting them to record their sets and ensure they are staying compliant with the provided program. To get around this, we must understand that these are new challenges for them and give them small actionable tips to aid with convenience and reporting on the program.

Ever since we started working with a few of our clients, we have to make sure the equipment that we are using is safe and does not cause anyone to get infected. We make sure we sanitize all our equipment before and after each session. Hands are sanitized before and after each session as well. Our trainers wear a mask and maintain distance whenever possible while leaving their shoes at the door, so they do not bring anything from outside, indoors.

We offer in-home training to clients in our service area. Furthermore, to make it as safe as possible for both parties, aside from our sanitation protocols, we ask clients to inform us if they or someone they've been in contact with has traveled in the last two weeks. Additionally, we ask them to tell us if they or anyone they've been in contact with is having any symptoms of COVID-19.

We have been successfully conducting video sessions with clients over a variety of video conferencing apps and continue to do so. We are also open to handling video conferencing and virtual events as well, whenever needed.

COVID-19 has been tough on all of us. It wasn't until I had been working out alone in my home for a couple of months that I realized how much I enjoy being around other people while doing my workouts. It's very tough to go through the exercises alone, which is something I've experienced. One of the best things I did during this time was meeting up with a few friends a couple of times a week to do a group workout.

My clients expressed that they would not have been exercising and maintaining healthy habits through all of this had they not been working with me. If making healthy lifestyle changes were as easy, everyone would have done it already. It is the time to acknowledge that sometimes we need to ask for help, and that's okay.

If you are looking for someone to assist you with staying healthy and in the way you work out, we have got you covered. Get in touch with Train Smart Fitness & Health if you are looking for in-person assistance when it comes to working out, or signing on for our virtual workout routines.
